The lesson taught in John 3:22-36 has one great aim: to make much of Jesus! Two chief traits are demonstrated by John the Baptist to illustrate the subjects of the previous passage; namely, genuine faith, new birth, and the love of God. These are illustrated by (1) Effacement of Self and (2) Exaltation of Christ. This message focuses on the former.

The grand introduction of Jesus is crowned with His own self-witness. This passage clearly presents Him in historical narrative as the perfect provision. He is: (1) the Lamb, (2) the Lord, (3) the Ladder (between God and man).

This is the final of three messages that express the meaning of John 1:6-18. It is the culmination of the Prologue (1:1-18) that crowns John's testimony and introduction of Jesus as the eternal, Creator, Author and Giver of life, very God of very God, supremely expressed in the dimensions of His glory--which belongs to God alone.
