Walking in the Light or Walking in Darkness
Walking in the Light or Walking in Darkness | 1 John 1:5-10 | Jeff Glass
To counter the false teachers who denied the existence or importance of sin, John affirms its reality. This affirmation of sin’s reality constitutes the second test of true fellowship (v. 1-4 for test one, and 2:3-6 for test three). Those who deny the reality of sin demonstrate their lack of genuine salvation. By using the word “we” John includes himself when examining his heart, life and walk when his fellowship is with the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. John’s exhortation is for every believer to examine their own lives and walk when claiming fellowship with God and His Son Jesus Christ.
