God has gathered Gentiles into His household and now will be glorified for it in the church. Through Christ and Him crucified, both Jews and Gentiles have access in one Spirit to the Father. More than a personal redemptive marvel, this passage accentuates the epoch-making event of the New Covenant promise extending to the Gentiles. The ends of the earth have been brought near through the blood of Christ. Here Peter retells this pivotal moment in redemptive history. The response is a critical leap for the church. She continues to grow in her appreciation of the weight of Christ and the New Covenant in His blood. She is learning that though there are many nations there is one faith and one family in Christ.
