Christ is the living stone, and believers are like living stones being built up for the purpose of offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Unbelievers are not so, because they disobey the word. But believers in Christ are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession. Believers are highly privileged to be called God’s people, and solely because we have received mercy. Let us therefore proclaim the excellencies of him who called us out of darkness into his marvelous light.
