Sunday, July 5

As stewards of God’s words and works, it is with delight that we have the opportunity to gather as His people in worship by way of a reminder of the truth, power, and goodness of the sacred Scriptures. May we gather in His name and for His glory as we endeavor to make much of Christ through scripture, prayer, song, and the preaching of His Word. We look forward to gathering together this Lord’s day – For Christ, to God’s Glory, and Man’s Joy!

This Sunday’s Sermon

Confidence in the Unseen Christ | Acts 12:1-17 | Manny Pereira

The church faces the fearful opposition of a visible king, yet learns to rest in the sovereign rule of the unseen Christ. This famous passage is presented in powerful irony. The whole chapter is an interlude of potentates and puppets, and powers misattributed. Here, irony betrays the illusion of power. This historical testimony is calculated to help the church throughout the ages to recognize who reigns and to take courage and comfort in the Lord and His invisible hand. It calls the church to a settled confidence—not in the things seen and felt, not in the strength of earthly powers, individuals, or even the church herself, but in the unseen Christ who rules and reigns over every detail according to His perfect will.

The Lord’s Table

Communion Sunday

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church, baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death. We believe that the two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:41; 8:38-39; 1 Corinthians 11:23-32). All who are in Christ are invited to the table today.

Today’s Song Lyrics

O For A Thousand Tongues to Sing

Verse 1

O for a thousand tongues to sing

My great Redeemer’s praise,

The glories of my God and King,

The triumphs of His grace.

Verse 2

My gracious Master and my God,

Assist me to proclaim,

To spread through all the earth abroad

The honors of Thy name.

Verse 3

Jesus, the name that charms our fears,

That bids our sorrows cease,

‘Tis music in the sinner’s ears,

‘Tis life and health and peace.

Verse 4

He breaks the power of canceled sin,

He sets the prisoner free;

His blood can make the foulest clean,

His blood availed for me.

Verse 5

He speaks and listening to His voice,

New life the dead receive;

The mournful, broken hearts rejoice,

The humble poor believe.

Verse 6

Hear Him, ye deaf; His praise, ye dumb,

Your loosened tongues employ;

Ye blind, behold your Savior come,

And leap, ye lame, for joy.

Verse 7

Glory to God and praise and love,

Be ever, ever given,

By saints below and saints above,

The church in earth and heaven.

Behold Our God

Verse 1

Who has held the oceans in His hands?

Who has numbered every grain of sand?

Kings and nations tremble at His voice.

All creation rises to rejoice.

(Chorus)

Behold our God, seated on His throne.

Come, let us adore Him.

Behold our King, nothing can compare,

Come, let us adore Him!

Verse 2

Who has given counsel to the Lord?

Who can question any of His words?

Who can teach the One who knows all things?

Who can fathom all His wondrous deeds?

(Repeat Chorus)

Verse 3

Who has felt the nails upon His hands,

Bearing all the guilt of sinful man?

God eternal, humbled to the grave,

Jesus, Savior, risen now to reign!

(Repeat Chorus)

You will reign forever.

(Let Your glory fill the earth)

And Can It Be?

Verse 1

And can it be

That I should gain

An interest in the Savior's blood?

Died He for me who caused his pain?

For me, who Him to death pursued?

Amazing love! How can it be

That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

Amazing love! How can it be

That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me!

Verse 2

He left His Father's throne above,

So free, so infinite His grace!

Emptied Himself of all but love,

And bled for Adam's helpless race!

'Tis mercy all, immense and free,

For O my God, it found out me.

'Tis mercy all, immense and free,

For O my God, it found out me!

Verse 3

Long my imprisoned spirit lay,

Fast bound in sin and nature's night.

Thine eye diffused a quickening ray;

I woke— the dungeon flamed with light!

My chains fell off, my heart was free;

I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.

My chains fell off, my heart was free;

I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.

Verse 4

No condemnation now I dread:

Jesus and all in Him is mine!

Alive in Him, my living Head,

And clothed in righteousness divine!

Bold I approach the eternal throne,

And claim the crown through Christ my own!

Bold I approach the eternal throne,

And claim the crown, through Christ my own.

I Set My Hope On Jesus

Verse 1

When this life of trials tests my faith,

I set my hope on Jesus.

When the questions come and doubts remain,

I set my hope on Jesus.

For the deepest wounds that time won't heal,

There's a joy that runs still deeper.

There's a truth that's more than all I feel;

I set my hope on Jesus.

Chorus

I set my hope on Jesus,

My Rock, my only trust,

Who set His heart upon me first;

I set my hope on Jesus.

Verse 2

Though I falter in this war with sin,

I set my hope on Jesus.

When I fail the fight and sink within,

I set my hope on Jesus.

Though the shame would drown me in its sea,

And I dread the waves of justice,

I will cast my life on Calvary;

I set my hope on Jesus.

(Repeat Chorus)

Verse 3

Though the world call me to leave my Lord,

I set my hope on Jesus.

Though it offer all its vain rewards,

I set my hope on Jesus.

Though this heart of mine be prone to stray,

Give me grace enough to finish.

Till I worship on that final day,

I set my hope on Jesus.

(Repeat Chorus)

Yet Not I But Through Christ In Me

Verse 1

What gift of grace is Jesus, my Redeemer;

There is no more for heaven now to give.

He is my joy, my righteousness, and freedom,

My steadfast love, my deep and boundless peace.

To this I hold: my hope is only Jesus,

For my life is wholly bound to His.

Oh, how strange and divine,

I can sing: all is mine!

Yet not I, but through Christ in me.

Verse 2

The night is dark, but I am not forsaken,

For by my side, the Savior, He will stay.

I labor on in weakness and rejoicing,

For in my need His power is displayed.

To this I hold: my Shepherd will defend me;

Through the deepest valley He will lead.

Oh the night has been won,

And I shall overcome!

Yet not I, but through Christ in me.

Verse 3

No fate I dread; I know I am forgiven;

The future sure, the price, it has been paid.

For Jesus bled and suffered for my pardon,

And He was raised to overthrow the grave.

To this I hold: my sin has been defeated;

Jesus now and ever is my plea.

Oh, the chains are released,

I can sing: I am free!

Yet not I, but through Christ in me.

Verse 4

With every breath I long to follow Jesus,

For He has said that He will bring me home.

And day by day I know He will renew me

Until I stand with joy before the throne.

To this I hold: my hope is only Jesus;

All the glory evermore to Him.

When the race is complete,

Still my lips shall repeat:

Yet not I, but through Christ in me.
