Sunday, February 8

As stewards of God’s words and works, it is with delight that we have the opportunity to gather as His people in worship by way of a reminder of the truth, power, and goodness of the sacred Scriptures. May we gather in His name and for His glory as we endeavor to make much of Christ through scripture, prayer, song, and the preaching of His Word. We look forward to gathering together this Lord’s day – For Christ, to God’s Glory, and Man’s Joy!

This Sunday’s Sermon

The Lamb Worthy of the World | Acts 8:26-40 | Manny Pereira

The story of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch is one of remarkable remembrance. The heart of God and His redemptive purposes are put on supernatural display. Philip is divinely directed to yet another unlikely convert. At the center of the scene is the Lamb worthy of the world. In one epic encounter, Christ is seen as both Lion and Lamb, king over all and supremely worthy.

Today’s Song Lyrics

O For A Thousand Tongues to Sing

Verse 1

O for a thousand tongues to sing

My great Redeemer’s praise,

The glories of my God and King,

The triumphs of His grace.

Verse 2

My gracious Master and my God,

Assist me to proclaim,

To spread through all the earth abroad

The honors of Thy name.

Verse 3

Jesus, the name that charms our fears,

That bids our sorrows cease,

‘Tis music in the sinner’s ears,

‘Tis life and health and peace.

Verse 4

He breaks the power of canceled sin,

He sets the prisoner free;

His blood can make the foulest clean,

His blood availed for me.

Verse 5

He speaks and listening to His voice,

New life the dead receive;

The mournful, broken hearts rejoice,

The humble poor believe.

Verse 6

Hear Him, ye deaf; His praise, ye dumb,

Your loosened tongues employ;

Ye blind, behold your Savior come,

And leap, ye lame, for joy.

Verse 7

Glory to God and praise and love,

Be ever, ever given,

By saints below and saints above,

The church in earth and heaven.

Praise His Name (Psalm 148)

Verse 1

Reaches of heaven, starry heights,

Lights of the evening, dancing in silent skies,

Brilliance of morning, breaking day,

O let them praise Him, praise His name.

(Chorus 1)

O praise His name, O praise His name,

Let all His wondrous works declare His praise!

Verse 2

Mightiest mountains, peaceful plains,

Snowfall and fire, thundering ocean waves,

Kings and their kingdoms, age to age,

O let them praise Him, praise His name.

(Chorus 2)

O praise His name, O praise His name,

Let all His wondrous works declare His praise!

O praise His name, O praise His name.

Let all His wondrous works declare His praise!

(Bridge)

King enthroned in majesty, All things made by His decree,

Hear creation’s melody, Praise Him! Praise Him!

Everything with life and breath, Everywhere from east to west

Every heart raised from the dead.

Praise Him! Praise Him!

Angels echo the refrain, “Jesus, Lamb for sinners slain!”

Name above all other names, Praise Him!

He Is Our God

Verse 1

Who can light the fires

Of a thousand burning suns,

Blazing in the heavens?

There is only One;

He is our God.

Verse 2

Who commands the nations,

Building up and tearing down,

Silencing His rivals?

There is only One;

He is our God, He is our God.

(Chorus 1)

Holy, You lone are holy,

Matchless in Your glory,

Holy God.

Verse 3

Who would come to save us

When we turned away His love,

Conquer us with kindness?

There is only One;

He is our God, He is our God.

(Chorus 2)

Holy, You lone are holy,

Matchless in Your glory,

No one is like You.

Worthy, You alone are worthy.

We adore You only,

Holy God.

(Bridge)

Now to the King on the throne

Who was and is to come

And to the Lamb Who was slain be glory

(Chorus 3)

Holy, You lone are holy,

Matchless in Your glory,

No one is like You.

Worthy, You alone are worthy.

We adore You only,

Holy God.

Come, Behold the Wondrous Mystery

Verse 1

Come, behold the wondrous mystery,

In the dawning of the King.

He, the theme of heaven's praises,

Robed in frail humanity.

In our longing, in our darkness,

Now the light of life has come!

Look to Christ who condescended,

Took on flesh to ransom us.

Verse 2

Come, behold the wondrous mystery,

He the perfect Son of Man.

In His living, in His suffering,

Never trace nor stain of sin.

See the true and better Adam,

Come to save the hell-bound man.

Christ, the great and sure fulfillment

Of the law; In Him we stand.

Verse 3

Come, behold the wondrous mystery,

Christ the Lord upon the tree.

In the stead of ruined sinners

Hangs the Lamb in victory.

See the price of our redemption,

See the Father's plan unfold.

Bringing many sons to glory,

Grace unmeasured, love untold.

Verse 4

Come, behold the wondrous mystery,

Slain by death the God of life.

But no grave could e'er restrain Him;

Praise the Lord; He is alive!

What a foretaste of deliverance,

How unwavering our hope:

Christ in power resurrected

As we will be when He comes.

How Sweet and Aweful Is the Place

Verse 1

How sweet and aweful is the place

With Christ within the doors,

While everlasting love displays

The choicest of her stores.

Verse 2

While all our hearts and all our songs

Join to admire the feast,

Each of us cry, with thankful tongues,

“Lord, why was I a guest?”

Verse 3

“Why was I made to hear Thy voice,

And enter while there’s room,

When thousands make a wretched choice,

And rather starve than come?”

Verse 4

‘Twas the same love that spread the feast

That sweetly drew us in;

Else we had still refused to taste,

And perished in our sin.

Verse 5

Pity the nations, O our God,

Constrain the earth to come;

Send Thy victorious Word abroad,

And bring the strangers home.

Verse 6

We long to see Thy churches full,

That all the chosen race

May, with one voice and heart and soul,

Sing Thy redeeming grace.

The Lord Almighty Reigns

Verse 1

There’s an endless song

Waiting to be sung,

With the voice of every tribe,

The sound of ev’ry tongue.

When the bride of Christ,

On that day of days,

Brings with joy unto the Lamb

A multitude of praise.

Like the roar of mighty seas

And rolls of thunder, hear His people sing:

(Chorus)

“Hallelujah, hallelujah,

For the Lord Almighty reigns!

Hallelujah, hallelujah,

For the Lord, our God,

The Almighty reigns!”

Verse 2

We will join the feast,

Rest from battles won;

Tell with great rejoicing all

The wonders God has done

And like the roar of mighty seas

And rolls of thunder, all the church will sing:

(Repeat Chorus)

Verse 3

Certain of that day,

Christ we will proclaim;

Oh, that more would share the prize–

Salvation in His name.

Then greater will the anthem ring,

A mighty chorus rising to the King:

(Repeat Chorus)
