The Triumph of Christ

In moving from the worth of Christ to the work of Christ, Paul sets forth the glory of Christ in a manner designed to not only give us pause and inspire awe, but to draw our hearts nearer to Christ. The gospel is radical and effects radical change in us, the world, and the whole spiritual realm. Christ is the mighty Champion of salvation, our Captain and King. One of the greatest ironies of all time was played out on the stage of Calvary, when Christ suffered, bled, and died on the cross. An irony of ironies, in what appeared to be utter defeat was magnificent triumph. “It is finished!” was His victory cry. This message carefully considers the rich meaning communicated in Colossians 2:15. It testifies to an important, though often overlooked, part of the gospel.
