The Discipline of Satisfaction

In Col 2:8-10, Paul starkly contrasts “empty” philosophy and deceit (2:8) with the “fullness” of Christ (2:9) and those in Him (2:10). The contrast of empty and full point to satisfaction. Satisfaction in Christ is essential not only for salvation and the defeat of sin, but for sanctification, for useful service, for loving sacrifice, for evangelistic suffering, and for Christian joy. Satisfaction requires maintenance, and the biblical means of that maintenance is faith through the disciplined exercise of the mind. This message offers a vital key to a biblical understanding of sanctification, namely the discipline of satisfaction.
